First, Shimano redesigned the arches of the caliper to improve braking power and modulation. The cable stop is lowered reducing cable drag and improving how the cable is routed. The barrel adjuster is bigger making it easier for on-the-fly adjustment. Stock brake pads provide double the braking power in wet conditions and greatly improves it in dry conditions.
