Welcome to the team Sean!

Racer Sportif is excited to welcome Sean Mackinnon back to our Oakville team.

Sean spent the past 5 years racing for the Canadian National Cycling team on both the track and road programs.

Sean competed at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto and won 2 Bronze medals. He earned one in the Team Pursuit on the track and another in the Individual Time Trial (ITT).  Following his success on the track and the road ITT, Sean moved quickly up through the ranks while racing on the European road circuit.

In 2016 Sean won the Best Young Rider Jersey at the Fleche du Sud UCI 2.2 stage race in Luxembourg.  He continued a strong season with two top 20 results at the U23 ITT World Championships.   After 2 years racing on both the Track World Cup Circuit and road racing throughout Europe Sean signed with the Irish Continental team, An Post Chain Reaction for the 2017 season.

When the season started with Sean in top form but then was sidelined with an early season crash.  After returning to top form and again racing at the highest level, Sean unfortunately suffered a further setback during the summer.  This forced him to hang up the racing bike for the remainder of the season.  He’s currently focusing on a full recovery for a healthy season in 2018.

While Sean continues along his recovery we are excited to have him as part of our Oakville team.

Please stop by the shop and say Hi to Sean. Come in to chat about bikes, racing around the world or get some valuable advice from one of Canada’s rising young cycling stars!!!
